Wagner Zemming Christensen, LLP WIN WRONGFUL TERMINATION AGAINST HOSPITAL
A jury awarded a former employee over $500,000 stemming from a lawsuit he filed for wrongful termination in violation of California's whistleblower laws and for violation of California's wage and hour laws. "The trial and subsequent jury award has re-affirmed whistleblower protections under current California law and has shed light on the working conditions at Corona Regional Medical Center," said Mr. Pelayes, a general partner of Wagner & Pelayes, LLP in Riverside, CA. "Our client sought our legal services after being in pro per for over three years. The facts were always clear to us his termination occurred as a result of management's retaliatory actions for reporting what was believed to be unsafe healthcare practices in violation of OSHA standards for the medical profession as well as complaints of understaffing which led to unpaid overtime wages for lost meal periods in violation of California's wage and hour laws. We are extremely happy at the outcome for our client and proud of our ability to quickly ascertain all the facts and prepare the case for trial."
